Raising over £140, the Elizabeth Woodville School’s party to celebrate the Sapphire Jubilee was a tremendous success – just another shining example of the community coming together, of the great efforts of students and staff and of the school’s growing cooperation of with the Deanshanger branch of the Royal British Legion.

Accompanied by the music of Vera Lynn and others from Her Majesty’s youth, the guests enjoyed tea, coffee, cakes and conversation. A particularly point of amusement was the raffle draw, with one forced to wonder just why it was that one table seemed especially lucky with the draw. As yet another part of councillor Allen Walkers extensive involvement with the village community, he had the honour of cutting the first slice of our specially made cake, posing for a photo with a raffle winner.

The Elizabeth Woodville School would like to thank all who helped to make the event possible, especially the fantastic work of the RBL, and to all who attended. We are hopeful that such an event will become an annual occurrence.
